Long term Animalife-sponsored riders Gareth Hughes and Piggy French have been selected in their respective disciplines to represent Team GB at the European Championships which start in Luhmuhlen on August 28.

Gareth Hughes will ride his wife Rebecca and Julia Hornig’s 13-year-old Trento B mar Classic Briolinca, with whom he led Britain to victory in the Compiegne Ntaions Cup in May this year. This will be Gareth’s first team appearance since winning team silver at WEG 2014.

Joining Gareth on the team are Lottie Fry who will make her first senior championship team appearance for Britain on the 11-year-old Zucchero gelding Dark Legend, with whom she won individual gold at the under-25 European Championships in 2018.

Charlotte Dujardin will ride her 2018 World Equestrian Games (WEG) double bronze medallist Mount St John Freestyle, at her first European Championships since 2015.

Carl Hester will  partner his WEG medallist; his own, Ann Cory and Anne Evans’ 11-year-old Hawtins Delicato.

Piggy French and Quarrycrest Echo, part of Britain’s world gold medal-winning team last year are part of the eventing squad which is made up of Tom McEwen with Toledo De Kerser, Tina Cook and Billy The Red, Laura Collett and London 52, Kitty King and Vendredi Biats and Oliver Townsend and Cooley Master Class.

Piggy said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be selected to represent Equestrian Team GBR at the 2019 European Championships with Quarrycrest Echo.

A massive thank you to my owner Jayne McGivern for her support, my team at Maidwell for their hard work and to my sponsors and supporters. Without all your help this wouldn't be possible.

Team GB has a great squad so I can't wait to get out to Luhmühlen in a few weeks time to give it our best shot!”

Supplements from Animalife form an important part of Gareth and Piggy’s feeding regime with all their team fed on the Vetro Collection.
