Directions for use:
Feed 5g per 100kg of body weight per day.
A 5ml level scoop gives approximately 5g. There is a multilevel (5ml-25ml) scoop included in
this product for your convenience.

Precautions:
Do not feed to pregnant or lactating mares. For animal use only. Introduce to the horse’s
diet gradually, splitting total daily serving between AM and PM feeds (when applicable).
Serve dependent on the individual animal but as a guide. Store indoors or under cover in a
frost-free, cool dry place out of direct sunlight. Replace lid after use. This product is not a

What are the benefits of liquorice for horses?
Liquorice supplements have been used throughout history as a catch-all herbal remedy. In humans, the root has been used to treat problems including coughs, eczema and viruses; and is also often used as a mild laxative. Similarly, equine experts have recognised some potential benefits of liquorice for horses. Primarily, it is thought to help support healthy circulation thanks to its role as an expectorant, meaning it can help to loosen mucus and phlegm from the respiratory tract. As a mild laxative and with anti-inflammatory properties, it can also help maintain a healthy digestive system and soothe discomfort.

What horses would benefit from liquorice in their diets?
Due to its potential benefits for breathing, liquorice could be a useful supplement for horses with a sore throat or other respiratory issues. Horses with mild digestive problems could also see positive results thanks to liquorice’s anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.

How do I feed my horse liquorice?
As part of our Equine Essentials range, we offer liquorice root in a dried form that can easily be added to your horse’s daily feed. We recommend 5 grams for every 100 kilograms of body weight per day.

Are there any side effects of liquorice for horses?
As a natural herb, liquorice is safe for horses to consume. However, it is not intended as a long-term supplement and should instead only be used until healthy circulation and digestion is restored. Liquorice is not recommended for pregnant mares.
